Information about New Zealand military academies.

HISTORY Advance Training Centres Ltd (ATC) began training in Kaitaia in 1991.   This was followed by expansion into Whangarei in 1994 and the North Shore of Auckland in 1995.   The Hyde Family purchased the company in 2000 and further expansion has taken place with branches established in Dargaville 2003, Kaikohe 2005 and Hamilton 2010. PROFESSIONALISM AND QUALITY ATC receives the majority of its funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and the Ministry of Social Development for its courses.   As part of the funding agreements we are audited by both these organisations.   As a NZQA registered and accredited provider we also undergo audits from NZQA.   To view our latest NZQA audit click the link below. NZQA Audit   https://www.nzqa.govt.nz/nqdocs/provider-reports/8872.pdf ATC started with the establishment of  the Military Prep School and grew itself, diversifying into offering business computing courses. THE COMPANY PHILOSOPHY Our philosophy is delivering highest quality education.   Educationally we attempt to get all of our recruits their NCEA Level 1 and/or Level 2 certificates, physically all of our recruits can pass the New Zealand Defence Force entrance standard and we aim to produce recruits who are young men and women that are good citizens that New Zealand can be proud of regardless of whether the recruit graduates into the NZDF, employment or further training opportunities. ATC started with the establishment of Military Prep School and developed, diversifying into offering business administration and computing courses. The growth takes into consideration the interest from students that prefer more business qualifications rather than Physical Training. Our philosophy is to deliver the highest quality education. Academically we help all our students achieve their National Certificates including NCEA Level 1 and/or Level 2 certificates. Our Military Prep School physically prepares all of our recruits to pass the New Zealand Defence Force entrance standard. We aim to assist our young recruits to become valuable citizens New Zealand can be proud of. The recruits have options of choosing various career or educational pathways including military training. The Business Administration and Computing school equips the graduates with numeracy and literacy skills, work place skills and computing skills at various levels. The programmes prepare the student in gaining relevant skills for employment or further education. We are proud of our success rate for the graduates that pathway into careers or further training, averaging at 82%. We continuously strive to improve this. (WEBSITE)

The New Zealand Command and Staff College (NZCSC) is the premier educational institute for the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) and is located at Trentham Military Camp, Upper Hutt (near Wellington). The New Zealand Command and Staff College provides professional military education to New Zealand Defence Force officers which prepares officers for command and staff appointments. The College was established at Whenuapai, near Auckland, in 1950, as a school for junior officers of the RNZAF. In 2004, the College moved to its present location in Trentham Military Camp, Upper Hutt near Wellington, New Zealand. Courses follow a modular approach that incorporate the following core subjects: Communication Skills, Operational Studies, Strategic Studies, International Relations, Command, Leadership and Management. Due to the College's close association with Massey University, it is able to offer to successful graduates of the Advanced Command and Staff Course (JOint) 150 of 180 credits towards gaining a Masters in International Security.[1] The NZCSC delivers military education course to all three Services of the New Zealand Defence Force. In addition to producing a professional military development framework for the NZDF and delivering various short courses in law of armed conflict (LOAC) and Joint Operations Planning Course (JOPC), the College runs three main courses. These include the Advanced Command and Staff Course (Joint), the Intermediate Command and Staff Course (Joint) and the Joint Warrant Officers Advanced Course. (WEBSITE)
HISTORY Vanguard Military School is very proud to be established as one of the Government's new Partnership Schools and will open in February 2014 in Albany, Auckland. It is a senior secondary school that will cater for Year 11 and 12 students in its foundation year before expanding to take Year 13 students from 2015. The school will use the ethos and training methodology of the military to help students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, achieve attitudinal and academic excellence. It will follow the best practices and traditions of military schools from around the world. CURRICULUM AND ACCOUNTABILITY The New Zealand Curriculum will be taught with NCEA Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and University Entrance being our measurable performance targets. Maths, English and Physical Education are all compulsory subjects at the school as we look to improve the numeracy, literacy and health issues many of our young people have. Vanguard Military School will use registered teachers to teach every core subject in the curriculum. lt will only be using non-registered teachers in areas where an expert with instructional experience will provide a better fit. An example of this is our teaching of Military Drill by ex-New Zealand Defence Force Personnel. All staff at the school will have police and background checks regarding their suitability. The Ministry of Education also requires Vanguard Military School to report to it every three months to monitor its performance and provide high levels of accountability to the community. (WEBSITE)

Should you need help finding residential boarding schools for boys let us know. Military academies operate in countries across the world, shaped by national traditions, history, and defense structures. For families, students, and researchers, locating reliable information about these institutions, especially beyond one’s own country, can be difficult and time-consuming. This international military academy directory was developed to simplify that process by bringing together listings of military academies and military-style institutions from around the globe in one centralized resource. Rather than describing how each academy trains or educates its students, the directory focuses on discovery and comparison. Visitors can explore academies by country and region, understand where institutions are located, and gain a clearer view of the global military academy landscape. By organizing publicly available information in a structured and accessible format, the directory helps users identify options, recognize international differences, and begin further research with confidence. Its purpose is to provide clarity, context, and orientation for anyone seeking an overview of military academies worldwide.
